Supporting the Community
Ritter has always believed in establishing a strong sense of family and community by supporting causes that resonate with team members. Over the past 50 years, we have donated to many different charities, including:
Susan G. Komen for the Cure
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
Johns Hopkins Children’s Center
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
We also take pride in supporting local causes. We don’t want to just exist in a community; we want to foster, energize, and stimulate the community around us. To this end, we contribute to many local organizations, including The Maryland State Police and local fire departments. Each year we cheer for and donate money to local sports teams as well.
Ritter makes a point to get involved in organizations that seek to improve the trucking industry. We are active members of National Star Route Mail Contractors Association, Maryland Motor Truck Association, and Trucks Bring It.
Since driving is our business, we feel acutely responsible for reducing our carbon footprint. The trucks in our fleet are all energy efficient and aerodynamic to ensure we are reducing our energy consumption as much as possible. We use diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), which is a control liquid that significantly reduces harmful emissions from truck engines. We also partner with the Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Transport initiative, which seeks to lower air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions by improving the environmental performance and fuel efficiency of freight supply chains.
